ABOUT PRODUCTS
What products can I find in the e-shop?
The e-shop is divided into two independent sections:
- Czech technical standards (CSN) and technical standardization information (TNI)
- Publications
Czech technical standards are products provided by law - their price is set by the decree (a public law performance).
Publications are common market goods (a private law performance). These individual products are subject to different tax conditions and give rise to different accounting documents, which must be recorded separately.
For this reason, the sale of products must also be dealt with
separately. In case you want to buy both standards and publications, you have to place two different orders.
How to search in standards?
To get started, you can use the search box on the front page and enter, for example, the name of the standard.
If this way of searching does not suit you and you wish to use more parameters for your search, you can use the detailed search. Here you have the possibility to combine search parameters. If you are not sure what a search field means, you can find the answer under the question mark next to the field.
The e-shop search is set up to display both valid and withdrawn standards. If you are interested only in currently valid standards or standards that have been withdrawn, you can select your preferred option in the detailed search form.
I cant find the standard Im looking for, what should I do?
First of all, check whether the standard is in the database at all - the database contains Czech technical standards and technical standardization information only. The database does not contain international standards, standards published by different industries/companies, standards of other countries or historical standards.
Check that you are entering the standard designation correctly (watch out for typos, letter designations, different number order in the numeric designation, etc.) and make sure that you have entered the validity of the standard (Valid, Withdrawn, or a combination) in the detailed search.
If you still do not find the standard you are looking for, contact the Customer Centre. Do the same if you are interested in purchasing international standards, standards of other countries or historical standards.
For some standards there is no price - just a button "upon inquiry" - what does that mean?
You will find the "upon inquiry" button for some of the standards that have been withdrawn in 2002 and earlier. These standards have certain specifics and the document needs to be re-edited before it can be sold to the customer and then the price can be determined.
You will also find this button for so-called journal changes. These are amendments to standards that were not developed via the now standard process, but only by printing the text of a particular amendment in the Journal in the form of one or two sentences. We deliver these journal changes separately on request outside the ordering process.
How are standards priced?
The
prices of the standards are determined by
decree No. 571/2020 Coll., which sets out the fees for the provision of and access to Czech technical standards and other technical documents; Annex 1.
In which languages are the standards available?
Most of the Czech technical standards are available in the Czech language.
Other CSNs that have not met the requirements for Czech translation are available in English.
In the e-shop, the language of each standard is clearly marked with a flag.
Always check in which language the standard is published prior the placing your order. Complaints are not taken into account in this case.
In which formats are the standards available?
The standards are available in PDF format (full-text or scanned) or as a printed publication.
Standards purchased in PDF format can be downloaded and viewed. Printing, sharing, sending or otherwise making the document available to others is not permitted.
How often is the standards database updated?
The documents are always updated on the date of publication of the Journal of Czech Office for Standards, Metrology & Testing - on the eighth day of the current month or the next working day thereafter.
Some partial information is uploaded to the database continuously.
What are the terms of use of the products? Can I buy the standard for someone else? Can more than one person in the company use the standard? Can we put the standard on the Intranet? Can we copy the standard and hand it out within a training session?
CSNs and TNIs are
copyrighted documents. The licence is provided to the user as a so-called single user licence. This means that the document is acquired by the user
for his/her personal and exclusive use. The licence
may not be transferred to another user in any form.
In other words, the user can open the purchased document in electronic form on his/her devices (computer, laptop, tablet, smartphone). Printing, sharing, sending or making the document available is
prohibited.
Each document is
watermarked with the users identification data.
Documents sent to the user in the form of a paper copy
may not be copied or reproduced in any way, even in part.
The customer will receive the
licence terms for the specific product together with the order confirmation on his/her e-mail.
If you
need to deal with the content of the standards in a way that is not defined by the Licence Terms, please visit the website
www.iso.org. Click here for more information on how to proceed. The full text of the Licence Terms and Conditions for the provision of Czech technical standards can be found at allowed by the licence conditions are described
here.
Where can I find more information about the development, publication and distribution of technical standards?
All information on the development, publication and distribution of technical standards can be found on the website of the Czech Standardization Agency
www.agenturacas.gov.cz..
Do I need to register in the e-shop?
Yes, you can add any available product to your cart without registering, but in order to complete the purchase, you need to create an user account and fill in all the mandatory personal information.
I already have a user account in ČSN online. Can I log in with it in the e-shop?
The ČSN online subscription, the e-shop and the Sponsored Access portal, which are the main channels for the distribution of Czech technical standards, are not connected in any way. You must have a separate registration for each of them.
How should I proceed with the purchase?
As a first step, we recommend you to create a user account using the
USER ACCOUNT button located in the top right corner of the screen - once selected, continue by pressing the "If you dont have an account, register
here button". If you have already registered, after selecting the USER ACCOUNT button, you will only
log in with your login e-mail and password that was generated and sent to you via email.
Then, according to your needs, you select the standards or publications you wish to buy and add them to your cart. Once you have all the items selected, select the cart icon next to the USER ACCOUNT button to check your purchase. Use the CONTINUE button to confirm all order details and the
FINISH ORDER button to complete the order. You will then be redirected to the payment gateway where you will select your preferred payment method and complete your order.
How can I change the personal information in my account?
Once you have completed your registration, you are no longer authorized to change your personal data yourself. If you need to update your personal data, please contact the Customer Centre using the contact form at the bottom of the store page.
I paid via bank transfer, but the product has not been delivered yet.
Using bank transfer, unlike payment by card, is not instantaneous. For this reason, there may be a delay (usually 1-2 business days) between sending and receiving your payment. However, once we accept your payment, you will be notified by e-mail.
You have paid the bill, but the receipt has not arrived even after several days. Apparently the system failed to pair the payment with the order. A missing variable symbol (payment ID) is usually to blame. In this case, contact the Customer Centre using the contact form at the bottom of the e-shop page.
I bought the PDF, but I only received an email confirmation, not the PDF file.
We do not send products in PDF format as an email attachment. All products purchased electronically can be found in your user account in the Order History section.
The standard I bought is unusable for me and I want to return it.
CSNs and TNIs are
personalized and
cannot be returned.
Only products provided to the customer in printed form and sent by post
can be returned if the provider has mistakenly sent a different document than the one ordered by the customer or if the customer has mistakenly ordered the same document twice.
In particular, reasons for returning the goods
do not include:
- a product that the customer ordered by mistake in a different language,
- a product that the customer ordered by mistake in a different version/edition.
